Superwomen is a series of thirty educational colouring cards. The series tells the personal stories of thirty accomplished women from different eras, nationalities, religions and professions.
The series was first published by the Polish organisation Mommy Glos as a DIY zine format notebook. The Bulgarian Helsinki committee sought publication in Bulgaria to attract attention and inspire girls and women of all ages. We saw the great potential of the project as well as its power to offer better representation so we stepped in for a complete makeover.
Our first stop was designing a logo that made Superwomen recognizable. It put the individual story of each incredible woman under the same hat: superwomen.
Next, designing a card grid gave us the opportunity to introduce all women equally, while preserving their diversity and character. We wanted to enhance the presentation of this inspirational ‘collective’ so we created a box for the cards to serve as packaging and a metaphor that when they stand close together, women are powerful. The redesign gave the project extra value—from a DIY zine Superwomen turned into an educational tool.
Suitable for people of all ages, the series provides a source of encouragement, vision and inspiration. To quote an ancient Greek philosopher: ‘Who runs the world?’
